Employers and trade unions determine new pension scheme

A pension is a term of employment. As such, trade unions and employers discuss the content of your new pension scheme. As the law is changing, keeping your current pension scheme is not an option.

The Future of Pensions Act will take effect on 1 July 2023. The Senate passed the associated bill on 30 May. From 1 July 2023 onwards, pension funds will be able to prepare for the transition to new pension rules. The new pension schemes are expected to be ready by 1 January 2028. Previously, this date was 1 January 2027.

Discussing which pension rules suit PME best

Meanwhile, we as a pension fund are talking to employers and trade unions. We inform each other of what the legislative proposal is all about. Afterwards, employers and trade unions will start negotiations. They will discuss which pension rules suit PME best. Employers and trade unions must record the agreements they make in a new pension scheme. At that time, we will know how their agreements will affect your pension.

What does Pensioenfonds PME do?

As soon as the content of the pension scheme has been determined, we as a pension fund will look at what we need to change in our pension administration. For this, we will adjust our pension systems. After that, we can also tell you what the new pension scheme means for you personally. Your current pension at PME will be transferred to your new pension scheme. Except if that is very unfavourable.

We aim to have your new pension scheme take effect at the beginning of 2025 or at the latest at the beginning of 2026.

We will regularly keep you informed about developments. On 15 September we held a webinar. We want to organise another webinar early next year. Please let us know your email address if you haven't already done so. We will then let you know the exact date and time of the webinar. Also follow the updates on our website. That way, you will stay informed.

Are you receiving pension from PME? Or did you accrue pension with us in the past? Then, according to the law, you have a right to be heard. Read more about what the right to be heard is and how it works.
