Why a new pension system?

The current Dutch pension system is still one of the best systems in the world. But the world is changing:

  • We are getting older. Life expectancy is increasing from an average of 75 to 90.
  • The labor market has changed; people change jobs more quickly or become entrepreneurs: young and old pay the same premium and that works well if you stay with the same boss for a long time.
  • Society is more individualistic.
  • There is a greater need for transparency and insight into the pension assets you have accrued yourself. We call this the personal pension capital.

And that is why adjustments are required. The starting point is: we keep the good elements, but improve where possible and desired.
