Pension reform: why?

The Dutch pension system is very good. Almost nowhere else is poverty among senior citizens as low as in the Netherlands. This is due to the fact that most people working in the Netherlands have to save for their pension via their employer. Therefore, the costs and the risks are shared.

However, change is needed. More and more people are (partially) self-employed or have flexible contracts and accrue less pension as a result. In addition, there is a need for more insight into individual pension amounts.
