On 1 January 2026, PME Pension Fund will increase all of its participants’ pensions by 2.82%. The 27.98% contribution rate and the 1.875% accrual rate will remain the same in 2026. The current coverage ratio at the end of October 2025 was 125.2%. PME’s assets were EUR 60.7 billion at the end of October.

Alae Laghrich, Chairman of the Executive Board: “This is the fifth consecutive time that PME can increase its pensions. I am pleased to announce that this increase will allow PME to fully compensate for last year’s inflation. This increase is possible thanks to the strong, current financial position of our fund. At the same time, I realise that inflation has been high in recent years and that for many people this means that everyday spending, such as groceries, has become significantly more expensive. This increase is our contribution to maintaining the purchasing power of our participants.”

Laghrich: “We intend to switch to the new pension scheme on 1 January 2027. On that date, we will distribute PME’s assets among all people who have a pension with us; workers, pension beneficiaries and people who have previously accrued a pension. We are carefully preparing for this transition. It is difficult to predict how financial markets will develop in the intervening period. The same applies to PME’s coverage ratio. And that is important, because that ratio determines exactly how we can distribute the assets. I am positive about the new year, because PME will start it with a sound financial position. In addition, I am confident that we will be able to transition on 1 January 2027. All parties involved – TKP, MN, AFM, DNB and PME – communicate well with each other. I expect that our participants will be able to benefit from the new pension scheme in 2027.”

PME has some 170,000 pensioners who will see an increase in their retirement benefits from January 2026. In February, over 180,000 of our participants still accruing pension and over 270,000 of our former participants will see on their personal pension benefit statement on our Participants’ Portal that the pension they had accrued has increased by 2.82%.
