All the plans laid out
PME wants to switch to the new pension rules on 1 January 2027. That takes careful preparation. All the arrangements are neatly laid down in three plans: the transition plan, the implementation plan and the communication plan. These plans can be found below.
Transition plan
Switching to the new pension rules means that a new pension scheme is needed. The employers and employees in our sector (also known as the social partners) have agreed on what the new scheme will look like, and on what this means for the accrued pensions and the pensions that are already being paid. These agreements are laid down in the transition plan. When drafting the transition plan, VGPME, an interest group for people who receive a pension from PME, was also consulted.
We have produced useful summaries of the plan. These tell you what is important in your situation. Choose the summary below that suits you. Want to know all the details? Then read the full transition plan.
An addendum was added to the transition plan on 8 July 2025, containing several additional explanations and clarifications. For example, the addendum includes a complete table with objectives, criteria, ranges and priority rules. You can also read, for example, what exactly will happen if our coverage ratio is above 125% or below 100% at the time of the switch. The addendum is part of the transition plan.
Implementation plan
We have drawn up an implementation plan based on the transition plan. This plan sets out how we will implement the new scheme. It also explains how we will transfer all current pensions from the old scheme to the new one. The plan also describes what risks there are, what measures we will take to manage those risks and how we will ensure that the data in our records are correct. After all, you must, of course, be able to trust that everything will proceed fairly and correctly. The implementation plan was submitted to the regulator, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), on 18 July 2025. The plan is currently being assessed by DNB.

Communication plan
The communication plan is part of the implementation plan. In the communication plan, we describe how we will inform you about the new scheme, and when that will happen. The plan also shows the most important messages that you will hear from us. The communication plan was submitted to the regulator, Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM), on 18 July 2025. The plan is currently being assessed by AFM.

The key moments
You have already heard a lot from us in recent years about the new pension rules. We will also keep you informed in the near future, through the newsletter, subtitled webinars, personal messages and, of course, the website. The communication plan describes exactly how and when we will do this. The key moments are explained below:
You will receive a personalised message from us shortly before the switch. This will contain a comparison between your pension amounts under the old and new schemes. That way, you can see the differences for you personally. These amounts will still be an estimate, but they will already give a good idea.
We are targeting a switch on 1 January 2027, provided all preparations are complete for a smooth transition. This includes finalising pension regulations, agreements, administrative systems, investments and communication. In short, a complicated job. Once ready, the old scheme will end and the new scheme will start. Everyone’s pension will be converted to the new scheme.
You will receive another personalised overview from us. This will now include the final calculation of your pension based on the data as of 1 January 2027. If there are any differences compared to the estimate you received at the end of 2026, we will explain them.
