The board

Who is on the board?

The board of PME is made up of a general board with executive and non-executive board members:

  • 1 independent chairperson
  • 3 executive board members
  • 8 non-executive board members

The 8 non-executive board members represent the participants, employers and retirees in the metal and technology sector. The 3 executive board members keep a close eye on the pension fund's day-to-day business and manage the administrative office.

De Nederlandsche Bank screens all board members before they can join.

Remuneration

The remuneration for board members depends on two factors: their role and the number of hours worked for PME. This has been laid down in regulations. Their remuneration varies between € 56,000 euros per year (non-executive board members/0.4 fte) and € 105,000  per year (independent chairperson, 0.6 fte). Executive board members are employed by the pension fund full-time. In 2021 the salary earned by the chairperson of the executive board amounted to € 260,066 (incl. social security, pension contributions and other taxes). Detailed information can be found in our annual report.

Administrative office and consultants

Our administrative office supports the board members in their day-to-day business and the preparation of policy documents. It includes experts in the areas of finance, control, pension management, risk management, investments and communication.

Pension consultants are also part of our administrative office. PME employs 6 employee consultants and 2 employer consultants. They play an important role in educating employers and employees.
